Good-bye LiveJournal.

So, I had enough bumbling from LiveJournal’s management. In retrospect, I may have been a bit hasty thinking about deleting my own LiveJournal since I decided in the end that it probably wasn’t in my best interest. I still like the features LiveJournal offers, however, I’m pretty disappointed with their management. This is why I decided to start this weblog for my public posts. Since I’m not too happy with LiveJournal, I might as well start posting my entries elsewhere. I’m not sure if it will be permanent or not, but it doesn’t hurt to try, right?

As WordPress is one of those One-Click installs offered by my web host (DreamHost), it was pretty easy to install. It was also a new experience for me since the only “installing” I do for websites is either at work or adding new programs to my computer. My websites were the plain static HTML with images kind until now. (Mostly because I’m lazy and I’m a relative newbie when it comes to learning PHP, MySQL, and all that fun stuff.)

Anyway, here are some links to other LiveJournal alternatives in case you don’t have your own domain and webspace:

Services that have an asterick (*) are places I already have an existing account. Movable Type and Vox are excluded simply because they are Six Apart products, and I do not intend to give money to Six Apart due to their treatment of LiveJournal. (Aka, use LiveJournal primarily to generate revenue rather than improving it so it may stand as its own product.) Call it a permanent bias much like the one I have against TokyoPop. :|
